A guide to shopping in Venice

Venice is packed with fashion stores, such as Max Mara, Sergio Rossi, Cartier, Krizia, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and many others too. That is the case for the most important Italian cities, of course, but Venice has the advantage of an original and beautiful scenery, so the pleasure of shopping is in this case double.

Right at the end of San Marco Square you enter small streets, literally packed with designer shops. You can choose to window shopping, or to hurt the wallet and buy expesive (and gorgeous) Hermes bags, Versace clothes or Bulgari jeweleries.

If clothes, accessories and designer jeweleries are not what you are looking to buy in Venice, perhaps Murano glass objects interest you. You can enter hundreds of shops, featuring sumptuous chandeliers made in Murano glass, and other things like vases, statues, mirrors. You can choose to go in Murano (the island were you can find most of the factories) or visit the elegant shops along San Marco Squares.

And speaking about Murano glass, jewelery is another thing made in it. Don’t’ forget to buy a Murrina, a slim round pendant in colored glass with spiral or flower patterns that is hung on a gold or silver chain around your neck or a necklace of “Venetian pearls”, colored glass beads extremely popular there. Great souvenirs or gifts for the love ones.

Among another popular souvenirs: gondola miniatures, carnival masks (extremely inventive and original), small kitchen objects with Murano glass details. Another nice thing to buy in Venice are small hand made paintigs, by local artists. One place are the narrow streets near San Marco, where you can find various stores selling nice paintings.

Those said, i wish you all a nice shopping experience in Venice!
